
Allison Brooks Janney, born on 19 November 1959, in America is an American actor. Her performance on screen as well as the stage have been a hallmark of her career which spans more than three decades. Janney has won numerous accolades which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as an Golden Globe Award, and seven Primetime Emmy Awards, in the midst of nominations to win two Tony Awards. Janney was raised within Dayton and Boston by her parents, was awarded a scholarship by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to pursue her studies following graduation from Kenyon College. Janney earned credit for many small and very rare appearances on film and television through the years. Her most famous role in the role of C. J. Cregg on the NBC show The West Wing (1999-2006) was the basis for four Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2014, she received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in Drama Series for her role as Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex.
